Avenger’s not a typical action movie, exceeds expectations

Every comic book fan’s dream, Marvel’s The Avengers is a movie based on the comic series The Avengers which is about Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D, must recruit a team of superheroes in order to save the world from destruction.

Directed and written by Joss Whedon, the movie had an abundance of top actors, such as Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson and Jeremy Renner. In order to keep a balance between the large cast, it seems as though a mini spotlight and introduction was given to each of them, enough to not overwhelm the audience.

“I loved it, I thought it was awesome,” said Justin Lotun. “Seeing all the superheroes together and how they worked was amazing.”

Although there were returning characters that was only understood if the viewer has seen the previous movies such as Iron Man or Thor, it carried itself as a stand alone movie.

Surprisingly, the movie did not just mainly focus on the action and fighting the bad guys, but put an emphasis on the dynamic of the Avengers team. Whedon allowed the audience to understand the relationships between all the characters, especially those characters that had no previous knowledge of their personality or behavior.

“I really thought it was going to be a typical movie,” said Kelsey Mason. “But it actually was a good movie with a plot rather than a long movie with just action.”

Over two hours long, it seemed as though there was as much fighting against the villains as between the team themselves. Filmed in 3-D, the movie had more of a high definition quality rather than something popping in your face every two seconds.

“The movie was pretty good,” Hunter Werd said. “It was hilarious and had the right amount of action.”

This movie seemed to excel in parts where other typical larger than life action movies have not. With more humor in the film than other comedy films, this movie surpassed its predecessors. Marvel’s The Avengers has the potential to have a sequel, especially the bonus clip after the credits, it’s guaranteed.
