Tristan Da Silva is one of the newest players drafted by the Orlando Magic in the 18th pick of the 2024 NBA Draft.
Born and raised in Germany, Da Silva also holds Brazilian nationality which coincidentally is a country where there are many Orlando Magic fans. Orlando Magic is the first NBA team to create an exclusive social network channel for Brazilian fans, IG account @orlandomagic.br – who has already had more than 70,000 fans present in the stands in the past season.
Da Silva played 34 games last season at University of Colorado, averaging 16 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists on 33.9 minutes with a 39 % three-point shot success.
Tristan was named to the 2023-24 All-Pac 12 Second Team, having won the Pac 12 All-Tournament Team honors and helped his university win the Sweet Sixteen during the 2024 NCAA Tournament. In Germany, he played for Schwabing in the Regionalliga and IBA Muenchen in the NBBL.
On being drafted to play for the Magic, Tristan said he can help the Orlando team by playing good basketball and making the right plays, and with a selfless style, being a good fit for the team and making sure he can contribute.
Jeff Weltman, President of Basketball Operations for the Orlando Magic, said that Tristan is a very unique and one of the players in the draft with the highest IQ, and he was very excited to add him to the team.
Meanwhile, Coach Jamahl Mosley said Da Silva has
the ability to space the floor, be in the right position, and knows how to cut and move.
In the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft, Orlando Magic had drafted Antonio Reeves from the University of Kentucky with the 47 pick, but they exchange
him with New Orleans Pelicans, acquiring the unprotected rights of the 2030 and 2031 second round draft pick.
With a 47-35 record and 5th place in the 2023-24 NBA season, the Orlando Magic are preparing for another season of evolution and success in the league, improving more and more since they got the first pick of the Draft in 2022, selecting Paolo Banchero.
