Fall Festival celebration happening Tuesday on East Campus
Wellness Ambassadors and SGA are collaborating to create the Fall Festival happening on Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 6-9 p.m.
Creating a social environment where students can have fun and interact, Wellness Ambassadors and SGA will provide a diversity of activities in the Mall Area, with free food, DJ dance party, laser tag and glow in the dark games.
Jonathan Aaron Renderos, a Wellness Ambassador in Student Development affirms—”students can expect to have fun and enjoy themselves in this event. They can also expect to participate in numerous types of activities such as laser toy and a Halloween costume contest. We will also be educating students on the dangers of drunk driving by having students play Mario Kart with beer goggles on.”
“The purpose of Fall Festival is to revamp an event we used to call “Fright Night,” said SGA president Joseph Torres. “We wanted to add a community component towards this event so we created this Fall Festival. The most important part which is the education purpose, involves the awareness of drunk driving by simulating the same act by playing Mario cart, while wearing drunk googles.”
Further more at this event their will be glow in the dark games and activities along side food items like fried oreos and funnel cakes. There will be music and entertainment as well as an inflatable laser tag rink.
Did I mention a there will be a costume contest with prizes? Students are admitted without charge and non students are encouraged to bring non perishable food items to donate to Pookies Pantry, which is a student driven food pantry for the students on the East Campus.
The Wellness Ambassadors team work around the seven dimensions of wellness: spiritual, intellectual, career, physical, emotional, social and environmental.
Through their events, they help students to achieve their personal and professional goals. According to the Valencia College website, the Student Government Association provides many opportunities for leadership, including involvement at the local, district and state levels of the organization.
The SGA consists of the Executive Board and Senators that serve as the chairs of committees whose members (representatives) plan and carry out the activities of the association.
I look forward to seeing everyone at this event to join us in the festivities as we celebrate the coming of fall. More importantly gathering donations for pookies pantry.
