Hearing set for Valencia gun suspect

Hudson Capi, a former Valencia student accused of possessing a firearm on college property, plead not guilty at his arraignment July 26. Capi was allegedly the owner of a gun that was dropped in a scuffle May 26 at Valencia’s West Campus.

Capi matched the description of the suspect, and was riding in a vehicle that also matched the description of a car fleeing the campus. The car was driven by Capi’s cousin, Rony Boyer, who was also charged with possession of a firearm on school property, but those charges were later dropped.

Judge Walter Komanski presented the charges against Capi, then followed up with questions about his economic status. He ultimately set Capi’s pre-trial hearing date for Oct. 12.

Capi was expelled from Valencia following a disciplinary hearing.

Possession of a firearm on school property is a third-degree felony, and if convicted, Capi could face up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
