ORLANDO — Orlando City SC (16-4-6, No. 2 seed) went up early, Friday night, and never looked back defeating Charleston Battery (13-7-6, No. 3 seed) 3-2 at Fifth Third Bank Field at the Citrus Bowl.

With the win Orlando City now advance to the USL Pro championship game, where they will the Charlotte Eagles. The Eagle got to the finals by upsetting the top-seeded Richmond Kickers 2-1 in Saturday’s semifinal. Orlando is 1-0-1 on the season against Charlotte.

City scored all of their goals in the first half — Long Tan continued his dominant postseason performance, netting the first goal of the game in the 4th minute of play thanks to a Dennis Chin assist. Wasting no time defender Erik Ustruck managed to find midfielder Adama Mbengue, who extended the Lions lead to 2-0, just one-minute later.

The Battery refused to just lay down and die — the club continued to battle with the Lions after giving up a third unanswered goal to Dennis Chin in the 19th minute play.

Midfielder Michael Azira managed to get Charleston on the board in the 33rd minute of play — City’s goalkeeper, Miguel Gallardo, had a lapse of communication with his defenders which led to a header after he thought he successfully cleared it to one of his teammates in the frontline.

Following a goal in the 60′ minute of play by Amadou Sanyang, Charleston managed to bring the deficit to one, but that was as close as it would get.

Orlando City, who will be without Tan due to an incident in the 73rd minute of play which lead to a red card, looks to win their second USL Pro Championship in three years.
