Does our community affect our ability to heal from childhood trauma? On April 3rd, 2019, the Peace and Justice Institute of Valencia College, along with several partners and sponsors, are exploring the integration of science behind trauma-informed practices and healing.
Creating a Resilient Community: From Trauma to Healing will feature keynote speaker Dr. Vince Felitti, a researcher known for his study on Adverse Childhood Experiences. Also known as the ACE study, the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study analyzed over 17,000 adults and explored the idea that childhood trauma can affect the physical and mental health of adults.
The conference will focus on discussing and developing action plans for building a more resilient community. The event will be held from 9 AM to 4 PM at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center. The event is open to all members of the community and meals are included with the registration fee.
