Valencia Voice completed a non-scientific survey asking students if they believe the information provided by the Trump administration.

Four out of seven students agree that the Trump administration cannot be trusted. Two other students were unable to decide whether the information produced by Trump and his administration is reliable, and only one student said she believes the things that Trump says.

These answers come after a week of policy shifts on things like NATO and China.

CNBC quoted Trump in July 2016 calling China the “greatest currency manipulators ever.” However, Trump told The Wall Street Journal recently that China will not be labeled a currency manipulator.

CNN’s Kevin Liptak and Dan Merica reported Wednesday that Trump called NATO obsolete while on the campaign trail, but Trump recently said that NATO is “no longer obsolete.”

The Voice wanted to know what students think about what some are calling policy flip-flopping. Below are students’ responses when asked whether they believe the information set forth by the Trump administration:

“No, not at all,” Jon Moore, 19-year-old film major said. “I think he says things just to say it, like he thinks that he’s on a reality TV show.”

Issac Thomas, 20-year-old business major said, “No I do not.” Thomas went on to explain that based on Trump’s “demeanor and the way he addresses the country, especially considering the election isn’t even believed to have been a proper election,” he does not think that Donald Trump is a trustworthy guy.

Marissa Potts, 17-year-old music education major, disagrees. “For the most part,” she said. “He’s a business man, and from what I’ve read he seems to have carried through with some of the stuff he said he was going to do. Like he said he’s going to do 100 different things in the first 100 days in office, he’s kinda slacked off on some of those but from what I’ve read he’s done most or some of it.”

Vincent Chan, environmental engineering major, is on the fence. “I’m more in between because I know the internet or people can make things so it’s to their own benefit. I will half-believe with some doubt until I get some evidence that it’s actually true.” Chan continued, “everyone should get a chance to prove themselves, but if they screw up multiple times then that’s not right.”

“I don’t believe almost anything that comes out of the media,” Aaron Watson, 34-year-old entertainment design major said. When asked if he thinks Trump is a trustworthy guy Watson responded, “Probably not, who is?”

Valencia New Student Orientation Team Member Toby Oyewumi said, “he has good motives, but the way he’s going about everything is just- I don’t know. He needs to understand that America is not about him, it’s about America. And I think he’s making it all about him and his integrity, his this, his that, he’s forgetting that the people put him there because he promised to fix America.”
