Kaká expected to play in scrimmage against FC Dallas
Orlando City should get to see their star midfielder Kaká strap up his boots for the first time competitively when the club take on FC Dallas in a closed-door scrimmage on Wednesday.
Kaká had a chance to train with his teammates during the clubs first training of the year, but he missed the most recent friendly against D.C. United because he had to travel back to Brazil to finish getting his Visa.
The former Fifa World Player of the Year was Orlando City’s first-ever designated player signing and has been the face of the clubs jump to MLS ever since signing.
Orlando City played to a 1-1 draw against D.C. United in their first preseason action as an MLS franchise, getting a free-kick goal from Carlos Rivas late to equalize.
Rivas will miss the scrimmage on Wednesday as he’s nursing a shoulder injury that should keep him out of training for 7-10 days according to manager Adrian Heath.
The scrimmage against FC Dallas will be the Lions last game-type action before the Carolina Cup Challenge matchup against New York City FC on February 21, in Charleston, South Carolina.
Orlando City opens up their season at home on Sunday, March 8 against NYCFC at the Citrus Bowl with the lions pushing to “fill the bowl” and sell at least 65,000 tickets to the clubs MLS opener.
