After touring all over the west coast, Brother Ali returns to the east side for his “Home Away From Home Tour.”

The politically conscience hip-hop artist will be at The Social in downtown Orlando on Oct. 20. Fans of Rhymesayers Entertainment can expect fiery rhymes from the Minnesota native. Rhymesayers Entertainment is an independent hip-hop record label based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, founded by Sean Daley, better known as Slug from the hip-hop duo Atmosphere. The record label singed Brother Ali in the year 2000, where he has put out works inspired by the “Golden Age of Hip-Hop” and by artist like Rakim and KRS-One.

For those who are not familiar with Brother Ali, they may check out his latest album, “Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color,” which he will surely perform the night of the show. This latest album analyzes America’s flaw, but still gives an anticipative outlook on the future. The album was produced by fellow Rhymesayers member Jake One. Jake One has worked with artists ranging from 50 cent to MF Doom. His alternative and confident hip-hop sound blended perfectly for Brother Ali’s latest project.

Not only will his new material be heard, but fans should also expect to hear songs off his 2003 album “Shadows on the Sun.” This is the sophomore album from the rapper and it speaks on topics like overcoming self-doubt and surpassing rage.

Much like Ali’s album, this show is likely to speak on political messages and views on humanity. Brother Ali, who does not hold back any thoughts or opinions, wants to open ears and hearts. He wants people to feel empowered and have a voice. So come out and enjoy a night filled with inspiration and passion; two things this show will not lack.

Tickets are on sale right now on thesocial.org for $15; hardcopy tickets are available at the Park Ave. CD’s store on Corrine Dr. in Orlando.
