Sunbelt Rentals help prepare Valencia for President Obama
March 20, 2014
With President Barack Obama visiting Valencia on Thursday, March 20, for an invite-only event, members of the college have been putting in overtime work to ensure that his trip to Orlando is flawless.
The school has reached out to many community vendors to assist with the preparations, including construction equipment company Sunbelt Rentals.
“With us doing support for the president — this is the first time I have ever done it — we are really excited,” said Timothy White, territory manager for Sunbelt Rentals. “I know that Central Florida and Valencia College are really excited for President Obama to be doing his speech here.
“It’s a big notch for us, we are going to be tooting this throughout the company so we appreciate it.”
Sunbelt will provide two generators, which will act as an additional power support for the president’s stage and lighting. Many of the current voltages in the Special Events Center do not have the standard 120 or 220 voltage, so the company was brought on to provide generators that hold a large enough capacity to run the White House’s equipment. In addition, it will also act as a security measure in case Valencia’s power was to go out
“Also, if their is a power outage on sight, our second generator will kick in so that their are no interruption with lighting or sound equipments,” he said.
Sunbelt Rentals has more than 400 locations nationwide, and have provided their services for an extensive amount of events throughout the states. However according to White, this is the first time the company has assisted with an event containing the president in Central Florida.
