Iron Chic joins Orlando-based bands at Wills Pub

Punk rock fans rejoice as Long Island pop-punk outfit Iron Chic make their way to Wills Pub Tuesday, March 4. Coming in support of their recent sophomore release “The Constant One,” these flannel-wearing, bearded, New Yorkers know how to put on a good show Floridians can appreciate. Supporting acts include local acts Teen Agers, The New Lows, and Among Giants.

Describing themselves as a decent band which plays “songs that are acceptable,” Iron Chic are selling themselves short. With support from independent record label Bridge Nine, the band has vaulted into the pop-punk scene with catchy riffs and an emo feel.

Phil Douglas formed the group in 2008 with help from Lubrano, Gordon Lafler, Rob McAllister and Mike Bruno; five guys who wanted to follow in the giant footsteps of New York pop-punk greats Brand New and Taking Back Sunday — and go even further.

Releasing their first Demo EP that same year, the band kept themselves busy releasing 2 EP’s, a split, and two full length albums since their formation.

Taking the classic pop-punk sound and adding their own twists, with more refined guitar riffs, better production value and a heavy emo rock influence, the group has maintained their Long Island sound, with each album only improving upon themselves, and their newest album “The Constant One,” released in November of 2013.

Supporting this touring band are local punk rock natives Teen Agers. Consisting of current and former members of bands such as How Dare You and Go Rydell, they combine the original sounds of Orlando punk with the familiar sounds of New York punk.

Also joining the show are The New Lows, who have been playing here in town since 2006. They released “The Free EP” and the single “Missive” last year.

Holding the ever important opening spot are up and coming punk band Among Giants who we featured in our Feb. 5 issue. The three piece has been crashing into the scene making themselves known. They recently released a 7” split with New Jersey band Aspiga, and are planning on releasing an EP in April of this year.

Doors to Will’s Pub open at 8:00pm. Presale tickets may be bought for $8 at at TicketFly.com, and tickets the day-of the show will be available for $10. This is an 18 and up show.
