The term “Trippy” didn’t just pop up overnight and neither did rapper, songwriter and record producer Juicy J. Today’s generation knows Juicy J from signing to Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang Records — which he is part owner, and A&R rep — but it is so much more to the Memphis Tennessee rapper.

Juicy J is a founding member of 90’s rap group Three 6 Mafia which was founded in 1991. He dropped his first solo album “Chronicles of the Juice Man” in 2002, between Three 6 Mafia projects. “Chronicles of the Juice Man” peaked at 93 on the U.S. Billboard 200, seventeen on Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and number four on U.S. Billboard Top Independent Albums.

Juicy J Started his first record label “Prophet Entertainment” in 1991 with Nick Scarfo and DJ Paul. He left the label and went on to start “Hypnotize Mind Records” with DJ Paul in 1994. “Hypnotize Mind Records” hasn’t been active since 2011 due to legal actions.

Life got a little easier out there for a pimp when Juicy J won his first Oscar in 2006 at the 78th Academy Awards with Three 6 Mafia for the song “It’s Hard out Here for a Pimp.” They were the second hip-hop group in Academy history to win an Oscar.

After, winning the Oscar it wasn’t long before Juicy J was on MTV with Three 6 Mafia, and his brother Project Pat for their own reality show, “Adventures in Hollyhood.” By the second episode things really got hood when Three 6 Mafia got evicted from their Hollywood home because their personal assistant Big Triece urinated on  Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Lawn. While the show only lasted one season Juicy J has showed longevity in his career.

Juicy J started production on his third solo album “Stay Trippy”in 2011. The album sold 64,000 copies in the U.S. in its first week.  Juicy J produced four of the 16 tracks. For this cd he worked with other producers such as: Mike Will Made It, Timberland and Lex Luger. “Stay Trippy” featured the chart topper “Bandz a Make Her Dance.” He is suspected to release another album in 2014.

Juicy J kicks off his “Never Sober” tour featuring himself, Project Pat and Travis Scott in Florida. He stops in Orlando on Feb. 21 at Firestone Live. General admission is $30 and VIP is $40.
