Folk-Punk rockers Against Me! are no strangers to the Florida music scene.

Hailing from Gainesville, Fla. the once acoustic group has morphed into one of the biggest punk bands to come out of the Sunshine State and perform Saturday Jan. 25 at The Beacham downtown.

Consisting of vocalist/guitarist Laura Jane Grace, lead guitarist John Bowman, bassist Inge Johansson, and Adam Willard on Drums, the quartet has released six studio albums, with the most recent being released on Jan. 21.

The band reached commercial success with their last two albums, “New Wave” and “White Crosses,” reaching No. 57, and No. 34 respectively on the Billboard 200 album chart.

Front man of the group Tom Gabel, who has dealt with gender dysphoria since childhood, came out in May of 2013 and announced his desire to live as a transgender woman and to change her name to Laura Jane Grace.

After a few lineup changes, the band is back and on tour for support of their new studio album “Transgender Dysphoria Blues,” a concept album tackling the struggles and pain of Grace as she underwent the transformation.

Against Me! will be joined on stage by Ohio punk natives, The Sidekicks, as well as the female-fronted violin-driven punk band The Shondes.

Doors open at 5:30 pm and tickets cost $15 for general admission and $20 for balcony seating.
